Professional bodywork Clearcoats: everything you need to know about the Carross brand:

Carross offers a wide range of Clearcoats on its website to meet the different needs of professional body repairers. The Carross brand is constantly expanding its range to offer both professional and private customers products tailored to their needs. In view of the inflationary trend in paint and non paint bodywork consumables, the Carross brand is basing its development strategy on three main concepts to help professional bodybuilders keep purchasing costs under control.

Car Clearcoat, also known as body paint, is an essential component of the car paint process. It serves a number of crucial purposes in preserving and improving the aesthetic appearance of a vehicle's bodywork. Here are some of the main functions of Clearcoat for car bodywork:

Protection against external elements:

Clearcoat creates a protective barrier between the paint and external elements such as rain, snow, sun, dust, road debris and atmospheric contaminants. It acts as a defensive layer that prevents premature degradation of the paint due to exposure to weather and environmental conditions.

UV resistance:

Clearcoat is formulated to protect paint from the harmful effects of the sun's ultraviolet rays. UV rays can cause fading, dulling and deterioration of paint. Clearcoat provides protection against this damage, preserving the shine and brilliance of the original paintwork.

Improved gloss and finish:

Clearcoat helps to improve the visual appearance of paint by providing a deep gloss and smooth finish. It creates a mirror effect that highlights the paint colour and gives the vehicle a brilliant appearance.

Ease of cleaning and maintenance:

By forming a smooth surface, Clearcoat makes the bodywork easier to clean. Dirt and insects are less likely to become embedded, making car washing more effective. The Clearcoat also helps to protect the paintwork from light scratches during cleaning.

Resistance to scratches and scuffs:

Clearcoat offers additional physical protection by forming a layer that is resistant to scratches and minor scuffs. Although not invulnerable, Clearcoat can help prevent minor damage caused by abrasive elements.

Maintaining the vehicle's residual value:

A well-maintained body, with a Clearcoat in good condition, helps to maintain a vehicle's residual value. A well-groomed exterior and protection against environmental damage preserve the vehicle's aesthetic and market value over time.

In short, car body Clearcoat plays an essential role in protecting, enhancing the appearance and preserving the car's paintwork. It is a crucial step in the overall process of painting and maintaining a vehicle.

Presentation of the Carross range of professional Clearcoats:

The Carross professional brand has developed several types of Clearcoat: anti-scratch, gloss, air drying and fast drying to give customers a choice. What's more, customers can choose from packs or individual products depending on the quantity they need.

Carross brand Air Gloss AGV Clearcoat:

Carross Air Gloss Clearcoat is a professional clearcoat that gives excellent coverage and depth as soon as it is applied to your bodywork surface. Packaged in 2.5 litre cans, this gloss Clearcoat requires the base coat to be hardened (when using a hydro base coat).

This Clearcoat has been tested, approved and selected by our technical team for its quality and drying time, which is considerably shorter than that of other professional varnishes.

For the application of this professional Clearcoat, our Tech'team recommends a two-coat application to ensure you get the results you're looking for. For the first coat, we strongly recommend using a gravity-feed spray gun. The first coat should be a wet coat, but not too thick, and for the second coat, we recommend applying a full coat. Flash-off between layers is only 3 to 7 minutes. The drying time for this Powder dry Clearcoat is 20 minutes at 20°C and touch dry in 45 to 55 minutes at 20°C.

Carross Eco Gloss Antiscratch EGV5 Professional Clearcoat:

Carross Eco Gloss Antiscratch Professional Clearcoat is a very popular varnish with professional bodywork specialists. It offers excellent resistance to scratches and various external impacts. It is ideal for use in paint booths or other special areas. Eco Gloss Clearcoat is renowned for its excellent UV resistance (no yellowing). What's more, it gives bodybuilders a quick, easy and trouble-free application. As soon as the first coat of Clearcoat is applied, you'll have a shiny, smooth surface that lives up to your expectations.

When it comes to applying Clearcoat Eco Gloss, we recommend that you prepare your mixture carefully beforehand. Get a Spray gun and set your nozzle diameter to 1.3mm. It is important to allow 5 to 7 minutes to dry between coats to allow the solvents to evaporate properly. We recommend two full coats and a spray pressure of 2-2 bar. The dry film thickness should be 40-60 µm.

Carross Rapid Gloss RGV5 Professional Clearcoat:

This Rapid Gloss professional Clearcoat from the Carross brand of paint and non paint products is an extremely fast-drying Clearcoat. It can be polished after just 15 minutes of drying - it's essential to allow your surface to cool before sanding.

This Rapid Gloss Clearcoat gives the surface extra shine as soon as the first coat is applied, as well as impeccable hardness. This professional Clearcoat is highly resistant to chemical products and various weather conditions. This Clearcoat RGV5 has been developed for application over water- and solvent-based Basecoats.

Applying Clearcoat Rapid Gloss couldn't be easier. Simply mix your pot well to ensure that the Clearcoat is homogenous and applies easily and flawlessly. Apply your Clearcoat to the desired bodywork surface using a Spray gun with a 1.3mm nozzle diameter. It is important to allow 5 to 7 minutes to dry between coats to allow all the solvents to evaporate.

Carross Ultra Gloss Premium UGV5 Professional Clearcoat:

Ultra Gloss Clearcoat from the Carross professional brand is a clearcoat with an exceptional level of gloss compared with conventional professional clearcoats. Available in 5L or 1L packs, this Clearcoat is very easy to apply and has excellent hold. This professional Clearcoat can be applied to a wide range of substrates, including Basecoats and water-based Topcoats. To apply Clearcoat to the desired surface, we recommend 2 coats. The first coat should be wet, but not too thick so as not to alter the expected result, and the second coat should be solid. As for the Flash-off between layers, we recommend 3 to 5 minutes to ensure good results.

Choosing your car hardener couldn't be simpler: if you've chosen the slow hardener, it's important to wait 30 to 35 minutes at 60°C and 20 to 25 minutes at 60°C with the fast or standard hardener.
