Our Carross bodywork paint primers:

Primers in the world of bodywork are undercoats that help to isolate the base and ensure good paint adhesion. This product is used when you want to prepare the base of your car bodywork. A body paint primer is essential for touching up your car or motorbike. A primer is applied using a spray gun. However, before applying a Paint primer, you need to prepare your surface, i.e. sand the areas to be treated, but also protect the rest of your car bodywork to protect the parts you don't want to treat.

The different types of primer :

There are different types of car paint primer:

Trim paint primer:

Trim primer is one of the most popular and widely used primers for bodywork. Trim primer is only used to treat the surfaces of your car body.

Plastic paint primer :

Plastic Paint Primer is used on plastic surfaces, hence its name. The plastic must be unpainted and transparent in colour. The advantage of plastic primer is that it's ready to use straight away, with no need for a Hardener or Thinner.

Epoxy paint primer:

Epoxy primer is used only on unpainted surfaces. It's one of the best-known primers in the bodywork world, particularly for renovating classic cars.

Airdry Paint Primer:

This two-component primer can be applied to a number of substrates, including sheet metal, galvanised steel and aluminium.) Before using an airdry primer, the surface must be thoroughly cleaned and sanded for a clean, precise result. This product is very effective for Spot-repairs and major repairs.

Anti-gravel paint primer:

Anti-gravel is designed to protect your car body from all kinds of rust and splatter.

Wet-on-wet paint primer:

This type of primer is perfect for saving time. Thanks to its speed, wet-on-wet primer requires no sanding and is ready for painting after just 20 minutes drying time.

UV paint primer:

This type of UV-drying primer is specially designed for Spot-repairs. It has an extremely fast drying time, drying in just 5 minutes under UV light, so you can save time on your work.

Acrylic paint primer :

An acrylic primer is one-component, has the ability to dry very quickly and is easy to use and sand. We recommend this product for work on small areas of your car body.

Carross ECO 2K VHS Trim Primer:

Our Carross trim primer provides excellent protection against corrosion. It is recommended for use on steel, aluminium and galvanised surfaces. It is a professional two-component paint primer. It has very good filling properties and gives the bodybuilder pro an excellent flow when using it.

Application of AGE4 Body Paint Primer:

Before applying the bodywork primer, the surface must be perfectly clean, dry, matt and free of grease to ensure you get the results you want. For application, we recommend mixing the primer thoroughly with one part Hardener. If necessary, you can add 10-20% Thinner for Acrylic Paint products.

Apply the bodywork primer using a Spray gun with a 1.5-2.2 mm nozzle) in 1 to 3 coats depending on the desired result. Wait between 10 and 20 minutes (depending on the type of Hardener used) between coats to allow the solvents to evaporate. Then apply the second coat.

This Carross body paint primer is available in white, grey and black.

Carross Multi Premium Body Primer:

This premium paint primer has excellent adhesion to steel, aluminium, zinc and surfaces repaired with professional polyester putties. This bodywork primer has three different uses: filling, very filling or wet-on-wet.

Application of Carross multi-premium primer:

For use as a filler: apply the primer using a Spray gun and a nozzle diameter of 1.6-1.8mm and add 10 to 20% Carross AMPDIG1 Thinner. Apply 1.5 coats, taking care to leave 2 to 5 minutes between coats.

For a high build version: apply using a paint spray gun and a nozzle diameter of 1.5-2.0mm. We recommend adding 10-15% Carross AMPDIG1 Thinner. Apply 1 to 2 coats as required, leaving 10 minutes between coats.

For wet-on-wet application: always use a paint spray gun with a 1.3 mm diameter nozzle. Add 25 to 30% Carross AMPDIM Thinner. For application, we recommend a single coat, then leave to dry for 25 to 30 minutes at 20°C before applying the Topcoat.

Drying time depends on the version chosen:

Air drying time at 20°C: 2 to 3 hours for the filling version and 20 to 30 minutes for the wet-on-wet version.
