Properties and substrates compatible with PPG® D8505 primer
PPG® D8505 Primer is a two-component, wet-on-wet acrylic primer. It gives an excellent final appearance, without the need for sanding. It can be applied to a wide range of substrates, such as steel, galvanised or electro-galvanised panels, soft aluminium (cleaned and sanded) and plastics, as well as slightly original prints. It provides unrivalled anti-corrosion protection.
Preparing PPG Body Primer
Ensure that all substrates are degreased with a suitable PPG® cleaner and dried before and after each preparation stage. The primer must be mixed with the following Hardeners and Thinners to be ready to use:
- D8239 High Solid Slow Hardener
- D8238 High Solid Fast Hardener
- Thinner D8715
- D866 Thinner
Applying PPG D8505 to the substrate
Apply D8505 DP4000 Primer with a 1.2 - 1.3mm Nozzle in two coats, one normal and one light, to achieve a thickness of 25 - 35µm. It dries in approximately 15 minutes.

The primer can be overcoated with Deltron® Progress UHS DG, Envirobase® / Envirobase® High Performance finishes.
