Application of Nexa Autocolor P990-8900 Paint:
The professional paint range for your bodywork repairs is applied over two-component sandable primers and undercoats, on substrates such as steel, aluminium and galvanised aluminium. Before you start applying your colour, remember to sand and degrease your substrate with a suitable professional degreaser.
The application process varies depending on the type of base:
> Matt basecoats with pearlescent effects and/or special effects:
Get a Spray gun and set the nozzle diameter to 1.2-1.4 mm.
Apply two single coats until full opacity. Allow to evaporate between coats until the base is completely matt. Apply a placement veil over the dry film, for a uniform appearance of the final shade.
Tech'team tip: The application temperature should be between 23 and 25°C.
> Opaque bases :
Apply two single coats until opaque and allow to evaporate between coats to achieve excellent finishing results.
Correcting defects :
Visible defects such as dust or grit can be easily rectified if the base is dry: the defect is dry sanded, exerting light pressure with P1000 foam cutters. It is preferable to remove defects before varnishing: once the Clearcoat has been applied, they can only be corrected at the end of the time required for commissioning.
Checking shades:
As with any repair paint system, a colour check must be carried out before the vehicle is painted. Make sure the paint has been thoroughly stirred before applying the tints. This step is particularly important when using pearlescent or special-effect three-coat finishes, as their transparent appearance makes it difficult to achieve a flooded seam.
