Description of Clearcoat Autoclear VOC Standard from Sikkens:
LV Superior Medium Clearcoat is a two-component clearcoat that complies fully with VOC legislation. This professional system makes it possible to cover all repair sizes with a high level of quality and in all application conditions. The technology used in this Clearcoat ensures reliable performance and a very high gloss when used in bodywork workshops.
This Clearcoat is compatible for use with Autowave paint bases and is very easy to apply. For compatible hardeners, we recommend Autoclear LV Superior hardener, available in 3.5L from the Carross website.
Application of Sikkens LV Superior medium Clearcoat:
Paint gun setting :
- Nozzle diameter: 1.2-1.4 mm
- Spray pressure: 1.7-2.2 bar at the grip (HVLP max 0.6-0.7 bar at the nozzle)
- Before use, they must be mixed with Autoclear LV Superior Hardener (vol. 100:60) and one of the Autoclear LV Superior Thinners (vol. 100:20). The choice of Thinner depends on the size of the surface to be repaired and the ambient temperature: Up to 25°C: Autoclear LV Superior Fast Thinner
- The Thinner can be replaced in the same proportion byAutoclear LV Superior drying accelerator (only with Autoclear LV Superior fast and medium Clearcoats).
Number of coats :
- 2x1 coat
- Apply a thin layer first, then a full layer
Flash-off between layers :
- Between coats: 3-5 minutes at 20°C (depending on temperature conditions)
- Before drying: 3-5 minutes at 20°C (evaporation time depends on type of drying)
Drying time depends on application and object temperature:
Substrate temperature at 20°C :
- Powder dry: 1? hours
- Touch dry: 7 hours
Substrate temperature at 50°C :
- Powder dry: 20 minutes
- Touch dry: 50 minutes
Substrate temperature at 60°C :
- Powder dry: 10 minutes
- Touch dry: 25 minutes
Polishing the substrate :
Dust and minor damage can be polished off after steaming and drying completely according to the instructions given above, followed by cooling the element to room temperature. Carefully sand off any dust particles and restore the surface according to the sanding recommendations.
The bodywork surface is ready for polishing one hour after cooling to room temperature.
This process can be speeded up by drying the area to be polished for 10 minutes under an infrared lamp, followed by cooling for 30 minutes before polishing.
