PPG D834 Epoxy Primer Properties.
PPG™ D834 / DP40 primer does not contain chromate. It offers excellent adhesion to a wide range of substrates.
Preparing PPG D834 Body Primer
D834 / DP40 epoxy primer needs to be Thinner in the case of application without Sanding:
- High and standard thickness: Hardener D835 (vol. 1:1)
- Low thickness: Hardener D835 / DP402 (vol. 1:1) + Thinner 2K Primer 18-2 D866 (vol. 1:0.5)
Application of PPG primer D834
It can be used wet-on-wet or for sanding. It can also be applied as a one-coat primer over sanded 2K primers. This latter application method masks sanding marks and optimises the gloss of the finish.
Depending on the level of thickness required, it can be applied in 1 to 4 coats, with a maximum waiting time of 10 minutes between coats.
Surfaces compatible with D834 primer
This product is compatible with the following surfaces
- Steel sheet metal
- Galvanized steel
- Zintect
- Aluminium and alloys
- Cataphoresis Old paints
- Fiberglass and fiberglass-reinforced polyester
- Polyester putty
This primer must be covered with a 2K PPG™ primer.
